Tanztriennale
The Federal Cultural Foundation’s new cultural flagship - Tanztriennale Hamburg - brings together international perspectives and diverse dance cultures. Under the artistic direction of Gwen Hsin-Yi Chang and Monica Gillette, the city will transform into a stage over the course of several days: performances, interventions, discussion forums, and encounters invite audiences to rediscover dance as both an art form and a social practice. Spanning theater, public spaces, and everyday life, the program connects diverse communities, generations, and perspectives—and showcases dance in all its diversity.
For the inaugural edition of the Tanztriennale, K3 is featured in the program with two co-productions and in collaboration with the network explore dance – Network for Dance for Young Audiences. From June 14 to 21, 2026, dance in Hamburg will be showcased in all its facets – including its role in everyday (school) life. During this week, the energetic pop-ups Tie Break (11+) and WUW – Wind und Wand (10+) will tour schools.
With the co-production POLIPOLIS (11+) by Regina Rossi, a performative audio walk invites audiences to rediscover Hamburg’s city center as a utopian, dynamic urban space. In I AM DIFFERENT by Ricardo Urbina, the classical pas de deux is reimagined, opening up space for perspectives beyond binary categorizations.
