See dance, experience dance, create dance: K3 regularly presents dance pieces for young audiences and the whole family, developed and performed by experienced choreographers and dancers. Based on different artistic working methods and aesthetics, the pieces deal with a wide range of topics.

As stage productions, they can be experienced at Kampnagel or can travel directly to (pre-)schools, daycare centers or public spaces in form of mobile Pop-Ups. The dance pieces are created in close collaboration with children and young people, who slip into the role of young dramaturges to give feedback during rehearsal visits or in workshops.

Young K3 sees dance for young audiences as something that remains in motion—between the stage and everyday life, between watching and participating.

pop up-productions

Pop-Ups are mobile dance theatre pieces that are shown directly on location, e.g. in schools, kindergartens, cultural centres or public spaces. Thanks to their compact and flexible format, the Pop-Ups are technically inexpensive and adaptable

Stage Productions

All stage productions for young audiences are shown on the stages of Kampnagel. Performances for schools in the mornings are suitable for visits by school classes, and we offer family performances on weekends for visits with family and friends.

The performances are always followed by audience discussions to give room for questions about the pieces.

explore dance

K3 is part of explore dance, a nationwide network that makes contemporary dance visible, accessible, and tangible for children and young people. It creates dance productions, workshops, and projects in which young people can not only watch, but also actively participate and discuss.

As part of explore dance, dance productions, participatory projects, and educational formats are developed specifically for young audiences. Key components of the network are cross-regional collaboration, exchange between artists, and ongoing work with children and young people.

Dance is not only understood as a performance, but as a process in which young people can actively participate – as spectators, co-creators, or discussion partners.

The connection to explore dance forms a central basis for K3's work with young audiences: it enables the development of a diverse program over the long term, the joint testing of productions, and the contribution of K3's own artistic impulses to the nationwide network.

The network brings together six dance institutions from Germany:
