Marino Ariza

KUMBÉ

Marino Ariza danced cumbia in Colombia for over 15 years and it was a way for him to belong. After his migration to Germany, he left the dance behind, which here is just an exotic image without meaning or social context. Now he approaches cumbia and the tradition not with the intention of preserving it, but to experience it one last time. Kumbé is a festival in which the communal essence of cumbia celebrates a farewell to customs, roots and cultural heritage. Kumbé is a final act, a farewell dance - and at the same time the beginning of a new story.
