Constantin Trommlitz
KÖRPERDIALOGE / TIE BREAK (AT) 12+
In an urban dance battle, dancers compete against each other, with the audience or a jury deciding the winner. Originally, these battles arose from gang rivalries that were fought through dance instead of violence. They became an Olympic competition discipline for the first time in 2024. Battles are unpredictable: Music, floor, space and opponents are not fixed. The challenge is to react spontaneously and give it your all. The goal - to be in the moment and let music, body and skills become one. But it's about more than winning - it's about self-image, potential, self-doubt, originality and dealing with pressure and defeat. Can I overcome myself to show myself in front of an audience? How can I turn nervousness into energy?
In Körperdialoge / Tie Break (AT), choreographer Constantin Trommlitz explores how dance battles serve as a metaphor for personal struggles. Every day we wrestle with fears, self-demands and acceptance. With dancers from different dance styles, he explores how the body visualises emotions - from tension before to exhaustion after the fight. How can these challenges be overcome? When does the fight become a moment of liberation, in which you are both with yourself and part of the crew?

Constantin Trommlitz
is a German dancer, choreographer, and filmmaker based in Amsterdam. With a background in Break Dance and after competing for many years in the battle scene, he performed as a dancer for different Dutch companies. In 2021, he started to create his own work, always ranging between dance and film. Currently, Constantin is seeking the development of his choreographic language and the research of (chronic) pain through movement. Constantin’s work is supported by Korzo, The Hague amonst other places.
At K3, Constantin will continue his movement and choreography research Antibodies which addresses the topic of chronic pain. After a medical diagnosis about his chronic pain, he started to use dance and digtal art to to process and express pain. He will explore his relationship with pain as a dancer with a background in breaking, and include perspectives of dancers with other styles. Interested in how movement can be a tool to share pain, Constantin wants to change the narrative of pain being a limitation into a motor.
