CONTEMPORARY THRESHOLD AND MOMENTUM

The class focuses on methodologies that prioritize modes of perpetuation infused with principles of Butoh that support and heighten attention and intensities. A combination of improvisational practices and set material pushes the thresholds of momentum and intentions. Influenced by collaborations with Steve Paxton, Jeanine Durning, and Kota Yamazaki, the training offers frames that liberate materiality existing below the skin’s surface, encourage movement between physical qualities and psychological states, and invoke freedom, imagination, and rebellion.
