CONTEMPORARY DANCEThis training draws inspiration from yoga, floor work, and other somatic or release based techniques. We start with a warm-up that awakens the body-mind, engages breath and prepares the body thru simple movement patterns. Emphasizing the articulations of spine, drawing attention to the sensation of weight and altering the tone of the body, the warm-up is followed by phrases that build up towards more complexity. Growing from floor to standing, focusing on the changes of level, locomotion, and directions in space, the class aims to develop the gain of physical strength and effortlessness of the body in motion.
