Da Soul Chung

FLOATING APPLIQUÉ

Floating Appliqué discusses authorship in contemporary dance and inquires into its reproducibility. Who do movements actually belong to? Where does the boundary between citation and plagiarism lie? Which possibilities of interpretation are there? Da Soul Chung attempts to find answers via a process of up-cycling: not just by simply repeating movements, but by further developing and re-contextualizing them. Is the result a mash-up of existing choreographies or is it a completely new creation, whose origins are no longer clearly recognizable?
