Lucinda Childs Dance Company: Dance Workshop
Lucinda Childs, one of the most influential choreographers in recent dance history, opens the International Summer Festival with the world premiere of FOUR NEW WORKS. Accompanying the performances, Matt Pardo und Caitlin Scranton both dancers of the Lucinda Childs Dance Company will give a workshop for professional and advanced dancers, focusing on Childs' use of scores in her choreographic process, her exploration of repetition, theme and variation, and her approach that content and concept are the real carriers of meaning.The workshop is aimed at professional dancers and non-professional dancers with advanced experience from age 20. Registration here.With Caitlin Scranton and Matt Pardo.Matt Pardo has danced for Eisenhower Dance Ensemble, Pittsburgh Opera, Groundworks Dance Theatre, EINSTEIN ON THE BEACH and Lucinda Childs Dance Company, among others. He is co-founder and co-director of The Blanket, producing the Lucinda Childs Dance Company. Pardo has taught at Point Park University, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School, Centre National De Danse (Paris) and Slippery Rock University, among others. He is an an associate professor at James Madison University.Caitlin Scranton has worked with Cornfield Dance, Mark Dendy, the Metropolitan Opera Ballet, Ramon Oller and the Mark Morris Dance Group, among others, and is currently dancing in works by Christopher Williams and Netta Yerushalmy. She has been a soloist with the Lucinda Childs Dance Company since 2009. She has performed in the revival of EINSTEIN ON THE BEACH by Robert Wilson and in THE INDIAN QUEEN by Peter Sellars. She is co-founder of the dance production company The Blanket, which produces the works of Lucinda Childs, among others.Dates
